One of the major drivers for deforestation in affected countries is firewood.  A significant offset to this loss is being able to provide ways that allow people to cook and keep warm.
There have been some amazing innovations that people have come up with. 

A community in Madagascar  makes and shares solar cooking boxes which are earnt by local families planting an agreed number of trees.
